Soup Soup and More Soup!

Where shall I start?  First off while I'm typing this blog I'm enjoying a nice glass of Beckman Grenache.  The Beckman's use biodynamic farming.  Also their red and Grenache wines are vegan!  So pick up a nice bottle of Beckman wine(if you are a wine drinker) or come visit me and I'll drive you on over to their winery. hee hee.

I'm now going to get down to business! At the beginning of the New Year I made 3 soups that I want to share with you because they are delicious, low in fat and quick to make.

I wasn't sure how these flavors would all work but WOW did it work.  The chili-ginger sauce was really nice and Dave made a comment about how he really liked it.  It's a nice take on a corn soup and I found it in the DeliciousLiving magazine.  The only changes I made was that I used olive oil instead of coconut oil and veggie broth instead of the water and bouillon.

Next up is....
This soup was so quick to  make which was nice for a change.  It's even better that the family liked it.
It's so easy to make it vegan too, you just use veggie broth and leave out the parmesan.

Now for my new favorite soup....
(Check out how cool this pic is with my new camera.  So close and clear!)

Seriously my new favorite soup.  I just made more chickpeas today and I think I just may be whipping up this soup again this week.

I saw this recipe at 101 Cookbooks blog and it comes from a cook book called Saraban-A Cooks Journey Through Persia.  When reading the ingredients list for this recipe you wiill probably be thinking about how these flavors work toghether.  They just do!

  1. I saw this recipe on Heidi's site and wanted to try it! It is good to get a second opinion and it sounds like it turned out pretty good for you. Looks delicious, yumm! Might be good with an ethnic taste too. Like omit the cumin and add sesame oil and a little Tamari... hmm...so many possibilities :)

  4. LovesVeggies-the flavors are real subtle I think that's why it works. But yes you could do so much with this soup.

  5. Those soups all sound so good - but that new year's soup sounds fantastic! Lots of my favourite things in a yummy-sounding soup. I need to see if I have everything for it on hand.

I'd love to go visit the winery with you! Then you can come here and we can do some vinyards around Bordeaux!

Blogger isn't letting me use my wordpress id - but it's me!

  7. What a lovely array of soups. I think I want to try all of them...especially the curried corn soup and the noodle soup. I don't use dill ever in my cooking (except for pickles:) ; it will be a good way to get started with some dill. And I love the finishing touch of walnuts.

Also thanks for the wine recommendation; always on the lookout for good vegan wines.

  9. Rose- I actually have a list of wines from the area in which I live that are vegan. Just because a winemaker has one wine that isn't vegan doesn't mean the rest aren't. My list is getting bigger to. I'll have to blog about my findings for everyone.

  13. This has definitely been the winter of soups. Between the cold and getting snowed in, needing to use what's on hand, soups are always for dinner these days. Happy to have more ideas, these look delicious!
