I'm back finally!!!

                                                                     Hi everyone!
It's been way too long since I've blogged or even checked out all of your blogs.  It doesn't mean that I haven't thought about all of you!   A lot of things have happened and I just wasn't in the mood to blog.  I've thought it about it often though. So here I am, determined not to let so much time pass.  I'm also working on being more positive.  Life is too short and I'm not getting any younger.

I realize that part of my responsibility as a vegan is not only to help others on becoming and enjoying their life as a vegan but also to help people see why adding more plant foods is so important.  So if I even have an impact on one person then I'll be happy.

Let me start by telling you all that I moved with my family up to Northern California just this summer.

I'm still trying to adjust not living as close to the ocean but a least I'm really close to water right?  Hey nothing is permanent and I'm sure one day we'll be back .

(I miss this pout)

I had to put my Ace dog to sleep earlier in the year. He was only 3 years old.   He had some type of autoimmune disease and his body wasn't reacting well by dropping the Prednisone he was taking.  He was bruising, bleeding, very weak and then starting having seizures in the end.  I miss him so much.  He was such a sweet, gentle dog that taught me so much! I get teary eyed just thinking about him and then look at that face!   It's so different not having a dog around.

Next is my son's health.  He is 15 and had his third arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus back in the Spring and will need one more soon.  The real issue is that we found out he has TMD.  He missed the last month of school last spring because he was in so much pain.  We've been trying to figure out where his ear pain was coming from and in between going to the ENT, dentist, having oral surgery to remove wisdom teeth, back to the ENT once we moved up here and then the dentist again we found out it is his Temporomandibular joint that is causing jaw, ear pain and headaches.  Does anyone of you have TMD?  I have it but I don't have it that bad.  The night guard, soft foods, massage, hot cold compresses and pain meds don't work at all so far to relieve his pain.  I just got him into a chiropractor and have now received a referral to go see a TMJ specialist.   It's hard to watch your child be in so much pain.   If positive thoughts can be sent on over his way so he might finally get his pain under control that would be wonderful!

On that note I will exit for this post.  That way I will have to come back and post food!

May we all be thankful for our health and our pets health.

Peace out.  Unt
til next time.

  1. Hello hello! I'm so gld you're back, too! :)

Congrats on the move, I hope it's nice where you are now! I got to visit the USA this year and loved it, esp Cali/LA!

I'm so sorry about Ace, he looks like a cutie :)

And I have TMD, too! I've had it for years now (I think I might have done a post on it way back!) and I found a holistic dentist who pointed it out right away. I was getting lots of headaches, feeling miserable, sore jaw, sore neck, sleeping badly, feeling cranky. I got two plates made, one for day, one for night. Weaned off the day one, wasn't perfect so I had porcelain caps put on my lower back teeth to raise them up a bit, and now I have a new night plate. Things aren't perfect, and I am having a bit of a hard time of it right now. Feel free to email me if you want to chat about it :) xox

  2. Mandee-It's so good to hear from you.
All the info regarding TMD I'll take. Sorry that you are having problems again with it. I will relay it to Keaton because I feel that he needs to know that he will get some type of relief down the road. Try sleeping on your back if you don't already. I notice, and have been told as well, that when you lay the side of your head on the pillow the jaw on that side of your face will hurt more the next day. I may just take you up on that e-mail. Hugs!

  3. Can't speak from experience, but I'm a massage therapist. Have you tried Cranio-Sacral therapy? It is a massage modality that could be helpful. It addresses jaw issues....

  4. Welcome back! I'm very sorry to hear about all the difficulties that have kept you away from the blog, but I'm happy to have you back all the same. Hopefully, things can only get better from here. :)

  5. So sorry to hear about your baby Ace. It hurts to lose a beloved pet — especially one so young. It also hurts to see our kids experience any kind of pain. I hope you and your son find some relief. Has he tried acupuncture? My husband has had wonderful results for pain issues with acupuncture. (Not TMD)

  6. So glad to see you back! So sorry to hear about Ace.

Having grown up on the central coast, it's a little weird not to see the ocean every day even if it is just from the freeway but you'll get used to it. And if you have to, the beach is really not that far away.

I don't have TMD but hopefully you've found a good specialist that can help.

    1. Chow vegan- thanks for the positive thinking! The central coast is just so beautiful and I was lucky to make it my home for 5 years.
We did find a specialist and we get to see him on Monday!
